I know it may appear hard to believe if I’m repeating always the same ol’ story, but it’s been a really complete month with a lot of stories… too many to tell here. However, I will post here fragments of some of them.

Sé que será difícil de creer si siempre os vengo con la misma historia, pero ha sido un mes de lo más completito con muchas historias… demasiadas para contarlas aquí. Al menos pondré aquí los fragmentos de algunas de ellas.

La culpa de todo…

Sí, ésta es la conclusión a la que he llegado cuando, tras unos meses, me he dado cuenta de que el motivo para no actualizar tanto el blog es que mis amigos ya están lo suficientemente al tanto de lo que pasa en mi vida leyendo/escribiendo en el ‘wall’ o viendo las fotos que subo/otros suben a la red social más popular.

Hubo un momento en el que pensé que si no actualizaba esto más a menudo era por la ausencia de novedades/batallas/anécdotas en mi vida debido a lo absorbente de la vida tokiota… pero ésa es precisamente la principal fuente de batallas por aquí.

Cuando me di cuenta, pensé que, entonces, sería por la falta de tiempo. Y llegué a plantearme incluso convertir este blog en un fotolog… pero todos sabemos que el tiempo no es un problema porque hay ciertos momentos del día, de lunes a viernes, de 9.30 a 17.30, en los que será por tiempo para escribir…!

No, señores, si no escribo es porque cubro mi cuota informadora vía Facebook (y porque soy un poco perro, a quién quiero engañar).

Ergo, una vez más (¿y van ya n ?), me comprometo a tener más cuidado este blog y actualizarlo, en el peor de los casos, con alguna foto self-explanatory (así me cubro las espaldas, jeje).

En breve, algo más sobre mi segundo viaje relámpago (éste más) a España.

Once again, I’ve been “run by the bull” (Spanish expression meaning you’ve run out of time)… again, and I haven’t updated this blog for almost one month. Shame on me!

The other day I was thinking about this –it’s not that I don’t have anything to write about (because I certaintly have; loads of anecdotes and random thoughts cross my path every day), it’s just that I don’t spend much time in front of the computer… rather, in front of my computer at home… rather, in front of my computer at home doing something other than watching TV series. Because I think that keeping up with X series (Lost, 24, Gossip Girl, Battlestar Galactica and Gokusen) cannot be healthy… but I manage to keep up with my social life too. Something must be missing… sleep, maybe?

I know, I know… it’s been almost one month since I left for Spain, but it’s been hectic around here –trip to Spain for my sister’s wedding, meeting friends there, coming back to Japan, catching up with the Tokyoites, having Iñaki visiting, Sergio’s farewell party (aka Sticht’s Day)…

Se acabó el espectáculo.

Sólo han sido tres días, pero han dado mucho de sí. Ahora que después de tantos años se me ha vuelto a despertar el gusanillo interpretativo, toca esperar al siguiento montaje.

Show is over.

It’s been just three days, but three intense days. Now that after so long I feel excited about performing again I will have to wait for the next production.

Acelerando || Speeding Up

Recuerdo que, al primer o segundo día de incorporarme al trabajo en enero, mandé un e-mail a mis Fenómenos contándoles lo frustrante que era pasarse ocho horas al día en la oficina mirando a las musarañas, sin nada que hacer, deseando que fueran ya las 17.30h. La mayoría de ellos llevaba ya 3 meses en el mismo trabajo y me escribieron mails tranquilizadores (o no tanto), asegurándome que la cosa iría cambiando poco a poco (o no tanto).

Y así ha sido. Aunque ahora no tenga tiempo para mirar o responder mi correo, estoy contento porque, enfrascado en dos o tres cosas (de curro) a la vez como estoy, cuando quiero mirar al reloj ya es hora de recoger los bártulos y largarse.

Y ya llevamos 5 meses aquí….

I remember the first or second day after I began my current job, when I sent an e-mail to my class-mates complaining about how frustrating it was to spend 8 hours in front of the computer staring at the ceiling and doing nothing, waiting for 17.30h to come. Most of them had been working for already 3 months and wrote back with comforting (or not so much) words, assuring that it would change gradually (or not so much).

And do it was. Although I have no time now to check my e-mail and write back, I’m happyt because I’m involved with 2 or 3 things at the same time and when I notice is already time to finish the show and go back home.

And we’ve been here already 5 months…

Barqueros || Sailors

Hace un par de semanas llegaron a Tokio los participantes de la vigésima edición del Barco de la juventud mundial y, tras su estancia en Tokushima (los participantes de España y de Bahréin, el resto fueron a otras prefecturas) y su preparación en el Yoyogi International Olympic Center, ayer mismo partieron en el Nippon Maru desde el puerto de Yokohama. Tamara está de visita estos días por Japón, así que los dos, presidenta y vicepresidente, pudimos ir a despedir a nuestros barqueros españoles, pasarles el relevo… y emocionarnos un poco acordándonos de lo que hemos pasado en el Barco que cambió nuestras vidas.

¡Disfrutadlo al máximo, barqueros!

The participants of the 20th edition of the “Ship for World Youth” Program (SWY20) arrived in Tokyo two weeks ago. Yesterday, after their homestay in Tokushima (for the Spaniards and the Bahrainis –the rest went to different prefectures) got onboard Nippon Maru and sailed away from Yokohama Port. Tamara is visiting Japan now, so we two , Ms President and Mr Vice-President, could attend the ceremony and see off our Spanish sailors, pass them the baton… and get emotional recalling what we went through in that Ship which changed our lives.

Enjoy it to the utmost, sailors!

Hogar, dulce hogar (4ª parte)

¡¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO A TODOS!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!

¡Ya vuelvo a estar conectado con el mundo!

Siempre digo lo mismo, pero, hay que ver, un par de semanas sin Internet (dos y media, en concreto) y entro en “panic mode”. En fin, lo bueno es que ya estoy instalado en mi casa nueva (fotos, en breve, en cuanto la adecente, jeje) y parece que el año ha empezado con buen pie.

Ahí va un resumen de mis últimas semanas:

- Viaje a Tailandia. 10 días muy bien aprovechados. Viaje, sol, playa, montaña, reunión con viejos y nuevos amigos, estómagos a prueba con el picante tailandés… todo tipo de transportes imaginables (desde ferry a tuk-tuk pasando por elefantes)… Muy bien. Podéis verlo en las fotos.

- Casa nueva. 30m² pueden parecer poco para los estándares españoles, pero, vamos, que acostumbrado a lo que he estado, para una persona, esto me parece un palacete, jeje. Ya digo: en cuanto adecente esto un poco (aún hay cajas y cables por ahí), subiré fotos.

- El curro. Bueno, después de dos semanas, no puedo decir que haya estado muuuuuuuy ocupado en el trabajo (los cequeros me entenderán). No tiene mala pinta… pero sólo espero que se “anime” un poco la carga de trabajo.

- El teatro. Después de dos ensayos, creo que ya le he cogido el puntillo a mis 20 líneas, en plan “sí, señora”, “¿está todo bien, señora?” y mi papel de botones del hotel puede desarrollarse mucho y dar mucho juego. En fin, “no hay papel pequeño, sino…”. (Me consuela saber que el otro “elemento del servicio” de la obra –un camarero del servicio de habitaciones– es otro español –somos los dos únicos no nativos de inglés de la obra–.) Lo de actuar en inglés también tiene su aquel: mira tú que son frases sencillas (por eso nos habrán dado el papel a los españoles? ), pero de momento me centro casi tanto en el inglés como en la actuación en sí. En fin, estoy seguro de que será divertido, en cualquier caso. Eso sí, las sensaciones son bastante diferentes a lo que había hecho hasta ahora: todo es mucho más profesional, con un director serio que te indica muy bien las pautas a seguir y te deja claro qué es lo quiere de ti… pero a costa de que todo sea frío y no haya el ambientillo lúdico (cachondeo y fiesta, vamos) que yo recordaba. Soy el más joven de la obra (hablamos de décadas de diferencia, no de meses) y todos llevamos unas vidas muy diferentes, bla bla bla… En fin, vamos a darle un margen de tiempo a ver si se humaniza un poco la cosa.

Y creo que eso es todo por mi parte. Una vez más, espero que la próxima entrega no se haga de rogar tanto.

Multitarea (o “Feliz Navidad”) || Multitask (aka Merry Xmas)

Son las 5.43 de la mañana y en 40 minutos salgo para el aeropuerto. Ha sido un día intenso en el que, con un poco de (des)organización, me he podido subdividir y bordear la multitarea (partiendo de que ésta imposible para alguien como yo). Dormiré de camino a Bangkok.

It’s 5.43am and I will be heading for the airport in 40 minutes. Today has been a hectic day but, with a little bit of (lack of) organization I could do a thousand things and almost reach multitasking (considering that that’s something impossible for someone like me). I will sleep in the flight to Bangkok.

Ecdisis || Ecdysis

Se avecinan cambios.

Dentro de una semana habré dicho “adiós” a mi vida de estudiante por tiempo indefinido (y largo, confío… pero never say never); dentro de dos, estaré en remojo en alguna playa meridional o apartando hojas más grandes que yo en alguna selva septentrional (pero , , a fin de cuentas, igualmente meridional, visto desde Tokio); dentro de tres, cambiaremos de año y yo empezaré a trabajar (o, al menos, a ir a la oficina); dentro de cuatro, me instalaré en mi nuevo piso. Dentro de cinco, volverá la rutina del gimnasio y la autodisciplina. Dentro de seis, “volveré a las andadas” casi 10 años después.

unadostrescuatrocincoseissemanas… y pondré algo de orden en mi vida.

Winds of change are blowing.

In one week I will have waved good-bye to my life as a student for an indefinite time (and long one… but never say never). In two weeks, I’ll be soaking at some southern beach or moving away leaves bigger than me in some northern jungle (but still southern, from a Tokyoite point of view). In three weeks, the new year will be here and I will start working (or, at least, commuting to the office). In four weeks, I’ll be settling in my new apartment. In five weeks, back to the gym drills and to self-discipline. In six weeks, I’ll be “back on track” after almost 10 years.
