Como yo, que a 7 horas de levantarme y a 8 de que venga a recogerme el taxi para llevarme al aeropuerto, aquí ando: liado con la maleta en el último momento una vez más. Mañana a estas horas estaré dando mis últimos coletazos por Hong Kong (visita obligada de 10 horas a la antigua colonia británica) y a puntito de salir para Heathrow, pasar allí cuatro horas y llegar finalmente a Madrid el jueves a las 2 y pico de la tarde. Y es que lo único que odio de los viajes son los trayectos.

Like me. 7 hours left to wake up, 8 to get in the taxi and be taken to the airport. And here I am: once more packing in the last moment. By this time tomorrow I will be enjoying my last moments in Hong Kong (obliged 10-hour visit to the former British colony) and about to leave for Heathrow, where I will spend 4 hours to finally reach Madrid on Thursday at 2ish in the afternoon. The only thing I hate about travelling are long journeys.

Ése era el pie para que el coche de Zaturn saliera disparado a una velocidad increíble… ¡Genial! Mereció la pena la espera de semanas. Sin embargo, mejor que la bajada con una inclinación de 89º era la subida a toda leche, especialmente la última vez que montamos, que Setsu y yo nos pusimos en el primer asiento y aquello era….buff.. Es una pena que no pueda subir vídeos.

That was the cue for Zaturn’s wagon to take off at an incredible speed… terrific! Waiting for some weeks was really worth it. However, better that going down in a slope of 89º was going up really fast. Especially last time we rode it, when Setsu and I sat in the front seats and that was….wow. It’s a pity I cannot upload some videos.

Después de SpaceWorld, volvimos a Ijiri y nos fuimos de cena con más amiguitos de la resi.

After SpaceWorld, we returned to Ijiri and went for luch with some other buddies from the dorm.

Después, de vuelta a la residencia. Unos a ver el partido (Japón-Croacia) y otros a estudiar/trabajar. ¿Adivináis en qué grupo estaba yo?

Afterwards, ba ck to the dorm. Some to watch the match (Japan-Croatia) and some to study/work. Guess wich group I was in?

Por último, tuvimos mini hanabi (fuegos artificiales) por cortesía de Spencer y Mami-chan. Estuvo muy bien, pero algo accidentado: algún vecino furioso de la propia resi, , SIN DAR LA CARA, nos regó con un balde de agua… justo cuando todos menos Mami-chan estábamos debajo del porche de la entrada. Os podéis imaginar las risas y el cachondeo (tengo vídeo del "justo después", incluso). Sin embargo, a la mañana siguente, la portera le dijo a Spencer que tenía que presentarse en no sé dónde para perdir disculpas por el ruido de los fuegos artificiales: por lo visto, el ruido había asustado a un niño de un bloque cercano y lo habían tenido que llevar al hospital ("sí??? No me lo creo. Quiero pruebas.", le dije a Spencer) y querían disculpas. El caso es que no sólo tenía que permanecer allí Spencer, sino todos los que habíamos estado allí. Así que allí estaba yo ayer por la mañana, "arrestado" en Ijiri cuando quería volver a toda prisa a "mi otra casa" a ver si por fin encontraba el pasaporte o tenía que ir al consulado español más cercano. Al cabo de un rato, Spencer me contó que la policía había recibido la llamada de "los padres del niño del edificio cercano", pero que no habían dejado ni teléfono, ni nombre, ni nada de nada…. ¿relacionáis eso con el balde de agua? Porque yo sí.

Eventually, we had some mini hanabi (fireworks) thanks to Spencer and Mami-chan. It was really nice, but somehow eventful: some angry neighbour from the dorm, WITHOUT HAVING THE GUTS TO SHOW HIS/HER FACE, throw a bucketful of water… just when everyone bu t Mami-chan was sheltered by the entrance porch. You can imagine the laughs we had (I even have a video of the "right after it"). However, next morning, the dorm’s porter told Spencer he had to go somewhere to apologize about the noises created by the fireworks: looks like some kid was scared by them and his parents had to take him to the hospital ("Really?? I don’t believe that. I want some evidence!", I told Spencer) and now wanted some apologies from us. The thing is that not only did the want Spencer to be there, but all of us. So there I was, "under arrest" in Ijiri when I needed to go in hurry to "my other house" to see if  I could find my passport or I should go to the nearest Spanish consulate in Japan. After a while, Spencer told me the police recieved a call from "the parent of the kid from the nearby building", but they didn’t have any name, telephone numer or anything at all… do you relate that to the bucketful of water? Because I do.

¡Ya estoy de vuelta en casa! Han sido otras dos semanas de lo más intenso, viajando por Japón con Olivia, conociendo nuevos lugares, nueva gente y viendo a viejos amigos. La última semana la pasamos aquí, de turismo por Kyushu, pero no tuve tiempo de pararme enfrente del ordenador hasta el jueves por la noche. Como necesitaba vegetar durante un par de días y, ademám, soy de la convicción de que las cosas hay que empezarlas en lunes… aquí estoy.

I’m back home!! It’s been two super intense weeks again, travelling around Japan with Olivia, visiting new places, meeting new people, old friends… Our last week we were here in Kyushu, but I couldn’t sit in front of the computer until Thursday night. As I needed a couple of days doing nothing and, besides, I think that you have to begin things on Mondays… here I am.

Recomendación: Ayer por la noche estuvimos Joao y yo viendo una peli en la habitación de Egle. Aunque ya me sabía la banda sonora de memoria (¡la recomiendo, también!), llevaba unos cuantos meses posponiendo ver Algo en común (y eso que la tengo en el disco duro desde antes de venir a Japón). Si podéis, vedla. (Natalieeeeeeee!!!! )

Recommendation: Last night, Joao and I went to Egle’s room to watch a movie. Although I already knew the soundtrack by heart (I strongly recommend it too!), I was putting off watching Garden State (and it’s been in my hard drive long before I came to Japan). If you have the chance, watch it. (Natalieeeeeeee!!!! )

Nota: Pensaba levantarme a las 11:00 (ejem… un poco tarde… lo sé), pero a las 10:20 ha venido un hombre llamando en casa puerta para probar las alarmas antiincendios….grrrrr; no es la mejor manera de despertarse un lunes.

Nota: I planned to wake up at 11:00 (ahem… a little late, I know), but some man has come at 10:20, knocking on every door to test the fire alarms….grrrrr; not the best way to wake un on Monday.

Ya estoy de nuevo en Fukuoka… ¡aunque sólo sea para un día! Mi semanita en Tokio ha sido de lo más productiva: he quedado con viejos amigos, he recorrido la ciudad "a mi ritmo" (= lentamente) y, sobre todo, he desconectado del jaleo de las últimas semanas en Fukuoka. Yuka ha sido la anfitriona ideal, así que espero poder corresponderle el favor cuando venga a Fukuoka, Madrid o dondequiera que esté.

Esta tarde he tenido la presentación (mi último compromiso académico del cuatrimestre) y ahora me dispongo a finalizar el proyecto para la beca… que ya es hora. A ver si consigo dormir un poco, aunque como luego tengo que preparar la maleta… me da a mi que voy a llegar con la hora justa a la estación: ¡¡a las 8:30am tengo que coger el shinkansen para reunirme en Kioto con mi hermana Olivia!!

Me acompañarán en la larga noche: Chopin y un yogur (odio escribir esta palabra!!) natural tamaño industrial.

I’m back in Fukuoka again… although it’s only for one day! My week in Tokyo has been very productive: I could meet some old friends, visit the city "at my own pace" (= slowly) and, especially, disconnect from the fuss of the last weeks in Fukuoka. Yuka has been the ideal hostess, so I only hope to make up for it some day when she comes to Fukuoka, Madrid or wherever I am.

This afternoon I had my presentation (my last school commitment of this term) and now I am about to try and finish the project for a scholarship… it was about time. Let’s see if I can get some  sleep for a while, although I have to prepare the luggage later and… I’m afraid I’m going to make it to the station just in time: I have to take the shinkansen at 8:30am to meet my sister Olivia in Kyoto!!

Aunque Seattle sea, "oficialmente", la Ciudad Esmeralda (me acabo de enterar), para mí Tokio cuenta con ese halo exótico, mágico, futurista, contenido y caótico al mismo tiempo, que la convierte en una ciudad en la que todo es posible. Voy a pasar una semanita allí viendo a mis amigos, de turismo, relax y haciendo muchas, pero que muchas fotos.

…pero me voy en un par de horas y aún no he empezado con la maleta!!

Although Seattle is, "officially", the Emeral City (I just learnt that), to me Tokyo has this exotic, magical, futuristic, simultaneously restrained and chaotic halo which makes it a city where everything is possible. I’m going to spend there a good week visiting friends, doing some sightseeing, relaxing and taking an awful lot of pictures.

… but I’m leaving in a couple of hours and I haven’t prepared my luggage yet!!

¡Ya estoy de vuelta en "mi casa"! Ha sido una semana intensa fuera de Fukuoka: he viajado solo, con gente, he reencontrado a viejos amigos, hecho nuevos, pasado unas fiestas especiales en familia, hecho turismo, he cogido un resfriado tremendo/gripe con calentura en el labio incluida, he gastado (invertido) unas pelas considerables y al mismo tiempo he ahorrado… En definitiva, ha sido una semana de lo más enriquecedora. Pensaba que iba a ser más "extraño" esto de pasar mis primeras Navidades fuera de casa pero, a decir verdad, como cuando estoy de viaje cambio el chip completamente, tampoco he notado mucho que estuviéramos en Navidades o Año Nuevo: simplemente abría bien los ojos y los oídos y me dejaba maravillar por lo que estaba experimentando. Me lo he pasado genial y me llevo un buen recuerdo de mi viaje por Kansai y Shikoku.

I’m back home! It’s been a very intense week away from Fukuoka: I have travelled alone, with people, met old friends and made new ones, spent some special days within a family, made sightseeing trips, got a huge cold/ the flu with cold sore, spent (invested) some of money and saved a lot at the same time… In short, this has been a very enriching week. At first I thougth it was going to be quite "weird" to spend my first Xmas away from Madrid but, truth be said, since I change completely my perspective when I’m travelling, I hardly noticed this was Xmas or New Years: I simply kept my eyes and ears wide open and let myself marvel at what I was experiencing. I’ve had a wicked time and will keep very nice memories from my visit to Kansai and Shikoku.

He subido a mi cuenta de Flickr sólo 335 fotos, pero os podéis hacer una idea de cómo ha sido el viaje.

P.D.: Como he sido un chico muuuuy bueno este año (alguien lo pone en duda?? ^o)), ayer obtuve mi recompensa y pude viajar gratis en Shinkansen desde Okayama hasta Fukuoka y hacer en 2h un trayecto que me hubiera llevado unas 8h gracias a la cortesía de JapanRailways… aunque ellos no lo sepan.

PS: For I’ve been a veeeeery good boy this year (anyone dares say the opposite?? ^o)), yesterday I gor my reward and could travel for free by Shinkansen from Okayama to Fukuoka in 2h (the journey in the regular train would be of 8h) through the courtesy of JR… although they don’t know.
